I’m sure a lot of you have heard about the Chinese Vice President’s pleasant visit to America, and his desire to ease relations between our two countries. Diplomatic resolutions would, after all, be the best way to go about repairing questionable relationships with other countries, right?
Well, not if you’re Mitt Romney.
“Unless China changes its ways, on day one of my presidency I will designate it a currency manipulator and take appropriate counteraction. A trade war with China is the last thing I want, but I cannot tolerate our current trade surrender.”
Yes, what a way to ease tensions with another country: take direct action against it on your first day as president. And this goes beyond imposing trade limitations:
In an editorial in the Wall Street Journal, the Republican presidential candidate chided Obama for demurring to the Asian powerhouse and said he would change course if elected by preserving a military presence in the region and confronting human rights issues in China more forcefully.
Of course! Send in the troops and maintain a strong military presence! Fight for another country’s human rights, that of a country willing to cooperate with us and with every reason to want to appease us! As if those jerks in Iran weren’t causing enough trouble, we need to ensure that every country has a reason to love us (because America gets such a great image worldwide when it blindly declares war on other countries, right?). Mitt Romney, you are a true American hero. If only those fools President Obama and Jon Huntsman realized that the only reason you should be friendly to another country is when you’re trying to convert their people to your religion.
