Your Weekly Dose of Conservative Nonsense
Conservative Media: NewsBusters, the conservative site that supposedly exposes media bias but actually does nothing more than whine, did a little happy dance over “Supermodel” Elle McPherson’s appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show recently. Here’s the exchange that got them all giddy:
HOWARD STERN: Who should be the next President of the United States Elle MacPherson, go ahead.
ELLE MACPHERSON: I think Obama’s going to do it.
STERN: You like Obama?
MACPHERSON: Yeah, I’m living in London and I’m socialist. What do you expect?
The writer sums up with what he calls “commentary”:
“And Obama’s media wonder why folks think he’s a socialist.”
Yes, you’re on to us, we hang on every word from Elle McPherson, a person at the top of a pointless career, who probably thinks a socialist is one who gets invited to all the best parties.
Religion: The pseudo-Christians have struck again; and reiterated the point that they dish religious bigotry as well as they allegedly get it.
According to Think Progress The Texas (Go figure) Association of Private and Parochial Schools, whose motto is “Competition With Honor” declined a Muslim school’s request to join their athletic association. The Association sent the Muslim school this reprehensible questionnaire:
“Historically, there is nothing in the Koran that fully embraces Christianity or Judaism in the way a Christian and/or a Jew understands his religion. Why, then, are you interested in joining an association whose basic beliefs your religion condemns?”
Um, our kids would like to play sports.
“It is our understanding that the Koran tells you not to mix with (and even eliminate) the infidels. Christians and Jews fall into that category. Why do you wish to join an organization whose membership is in disagreement with your religious beliefs?”
Um, because we’re Americans, and our kids love to play sports.
“How does your school address certain Christian concepts? (i.e. celebrating Christmas)”
Why would we talk about Christmas, everyone knows Jesus wasn’t even born in December; but now that you mention it, how do you address celebrating Ramadan? Can we get back to kids playing sports now?
Sixty-three percent of member schools opposed the membership, and
“Ten schools said they would leave Tapps if the Islamic schools were allowed.”
This organization “was founded in the 1970s as an athletic organization of private Christian schools and now has more than 200 members, including private Jewish schools.”
They also recently
“…declined to reschedule a game in its state boys’ basketball tournament for an Orthodox Jewish school, whose players could not play in the Saturday afternoon game because its players celebrate the Sabbath.”
The situation was ultimately worked out but it begs the question, what exactly are these so-called Christians teaching their children?
Unabashed Vote Buying: According to CNN, Sen.Scott Brown (R Ma.) is putting forth legislation “to grant 10,500 special work visas for Irish immigrants”.
Why would anyone in their right mind support such a measure when unemployment is still hovering around 8%? Why else- because Americans be damned come election time.
“Brown proposed the legislation in the midst of a neck-and-neck re-election battle in Massachusetts, which has the highest percentage of Americans of Irish descent. Brown is serving out the term of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, who was extremely popular with Irish-Americans because of his work on the Irish peace process.”
Numbers USA, a conservative organization, as well as the Federation for American Immigration Reform and America’s Voice, …[both of whom] typically side with Republicans on immigration issues, all oppose the bill. Maybe they’ll finally understand what non-Conservatives already know: It rarely matters what Americans want or need when a Republican’s job is at stake.
