Speaker John Boehner had this little moment of faux outrage on the House floor today:
And now, now we are going to have a fight over women’s health. Give me a break. This is the latest plank in the so-called war on women. Entirely created, entirely created by my colleagues across the aisle for political gain.
Apparently, the Speaker is completely out of touch with the flurry of anti-women legislation passed by his fellow Republicans across the country and in D.C. (snark. obviously, he knows). I emailed the Speaker the link to our ongoing series “Headlines in the Republican War on Women” by our Lead Blogger, Cindy Rose. I recommend the series to all lefties who may encounter the same right-wing “outrage”.
If you would like to tell the Speaker what you think about his faux outrage, contact the Speaker with this form.
Incidentally, you may have noticed in the video that the debate was about reducing the student loan interest rate. Republicans in the House passed a bill today paying for the rate reduction with cuts to women’s health and childhood immunizations. Listen Boehner, if you don’t like the phrase “War on Women” stop cutting programs that help low-income women while protecting the rich!
And Yes, if you listened to the video you actually heard Boehner complain about things that are “beneath the dignity of this House” and that constituents “expect us to work out these issues”. Give ME a break! The Republicans’ mission in life is to obstruct anything and everything done by President Obama and the Democrats. To pretend now that they want to work things out, THAT is purely for political gain.
