May 1st – International Workers Day General Strike

The Occupy movement is organizing an International Workers Day General Strike this Tuesday, May 1st.

To be honest, my support for the Occupy movement is not what it was (and that’s being kind). I support those in the Occupy movement who recognize that they and Dems are allies in the fight against corporate greed and policies that benefit the rich at the expense of hard-working Americans. However, I’m sick and tired of seeing false equivalence statements like this on their website:

While American corporate media has focused on yet another stale election between Wall Street-financed candidates

The Occupy movement does not need to prove their independence with these continuous attacks on the President and Democrats. I’ve even seen comments in various forums that say they will make a statement by not voting at all because there is no difference between the parties. That’s Bullshit! Aside from the obvious fact that the Democratic Party is the only party supporting the Occupy movement, refusing to vote will result in a Romney presidency and complete Republican control of the Congress. Romney currently has 18 foreign policy advisers from the previous Bush Administration. So if you disliked the Bush/Cheney policy of preemptive war, you’re really going to hate a Romney presidency. And we certainly don’t need more Republicans in Congress and in state governments to continue their war on women and anti-labor policies.

Its time for those in the Occupy movement to pick a side, register to vote, and vote in your best interests. Recognize that Democrats are your allies and stop the Dem-bashing. It does your movement no good to alienate Democrats.

Otherwise, you may as well join the military (or prepare to be drafted) because there’s absolutely no doubt that Romney will attack Iran, Syria, and any other country that’s in the way of the neo-con’s new world order.
