According to the local Orlando Fox affiliate a civil rights group based out of Detroit Mi. have has helpfully started patrolling the streets of Sanford Fl. The title Fox plastered on this story is: ”Civil rights group patrolling Sanford.” This group of civic minded citizens, calling themselves the National Socialist Movement, claim to only be responding to calls for help from local folks who are afraid for their safety following the uproar over the killing of Trayvon Martin.
This weeks Onionism is awarded to Fox 35 in Orlando for calling the National Socialist Movement which is a Neo Nazi organization, a civil rights group. Here is an example of the NSM’s brand of civil rights:
“We demand that all non-Whites currently residing in America be required to leave the nation forthwith and return to their land of origin: peacefully or by force.”
The Southern Poverty Law Center reports
The NSM is probably best known for carefully staged protests, carried out in full-blown Nazi uniforms and swastika armbands, that have managed to win substantial news coverage for the group.
So Fox believes that a group famous for wearing swastika armbands and Nazi uniforms at protests, while calling for the forced removal of all non whites from American soil, is a civil rights group? Whoever wrote that title for Fox must be auditioning for a job with The Onion.
