The Truth About Oil Production Under Obama

Print Friendly

Mitt Romney loves to tell the silliest lies about President Obama on the campaign trail to the half-brained simpletons who show-up at his events. I guess when you’re richer than God you don’t spend any time on the internet (you hire people to do that for you) where its so easy to find information to refute Romney’s false claims (not to mention video proof for the times when he claims he never said something).

For this post, we’ll focus on this lie:

Obama’s for all the sources of energy that come from above the ground. Wind and solar. He just doesn’t like the things that come from below the ground.

The onslaught of regulations — holding off on drilling in the Gulf; holding off on drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf; holding off on drilling in Alaska … These things have made the cost of energy go up.

From Romney’s own site:

Unfortunately, the first three years of the Obama administration have witnessed energy and environmental policies that have stifled the domestic energy sector.

Here are the facts:

Oil Production has increased under Obama, by a lot. In fact, oil production is at an 8 year high:
oil and gas production up under obama

And the number of working oil rigs has skyrocketed under Obama. The blue line represents the number of working oil rigs (the red line represents rigs drilling natural gas in shale, which is down along with the price of nat gas)

Yup, Romney is a big, fat, pants-on-fire, lying right-winger (is there any other kind?).
