Time For the War On Stupidity?

• According to Addicting Info, Republican state Representative Chris Stolle of Virginia has decided that terms like “global warming,” “climate change,” and “sea level rise,” are “liberal words” which “inflame conservatives” (aaaw), so he and his fellow lawmakers held up a study on “how climate change is affecting the Virginia coastline” until the words were changed.

Forget the fact that the scientific community uses these terms all the time, because liberals use them, they must be bad. So in place of these harmless terms, Stolle has replaced them with terms like “recurrent flooding” and “coastal resiliency.”

• Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, responding to a caller on the Sandy Rios radio show had this to say about Gay Pride Month:

“The month of June is Gay Pride Month. Now, I have not yet seen where they have declared Adultery Pride Month, I have not seen where they have declared the Drunkenness Pride Month… In fact, when it comes to drunkenness, we have laws to try to protect the rest of society.”

• And in another example of how Republicans see women as cattle, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) is seeking an “Agriculture Legislative Assistant”. The ad, according to the Washington Post’s Al Kamen, reads:

“Qualified candidates will be committed, pro-life conservatives with strong writing skills… and a firm understanding of agriculture issues and policy, and substantive experience working in agriculture.”

• Alan Keyes, the guy who’s made a profession out of running (unsuccessfully) for political office, is now calling Mitt Romney a Socialist:

“For some time now I’ve been sharing… articles I run across that document the fact that Mitt Romney is a crypto-socialist (i.e., a socialist who hides it behind some other label) who has already implemented leftist measures Obama has had trouble implementing on account of strong resistance.”

So Mitt’s really a “crypto-socialist” hiding behind the mask of a slash and burn take no prisoners vulture capitalist who’s worth a personal fortune… I knew it!
