Who’s Analyzing the Analysts Over at Fox?

Print Friendly

How exactly does Fox find their “experts”; work release programs? Weekend furloughs from rehab? Such an array of crackpots is not easy to find.

The latest media hound posing as a serious professional would be Lex Luthor Dr. Keith Ablow; by all accounts a successful mental health advocate before he drank the kool-aid.

Ablow appeared on Fox’s America Live recently to discuss the Supreme Courts’ decision on the Affordable Care Act, and the lead-in to his video claims: “Dr. Keith Ablow Explains Impact Law Could Have.” Claiming that the ACA, “takes control of your behavior in the way that a parent would of a child”, he went on to state:

“It absolutely infantilizes Americans because listen, even adolescents or younger kids – they dream of the day when they’re in charge of their own money. Why? Because we know that money has that significance…

To treat the American public as though they are pre-adolescent slingshots them back that way psychologically so that they say to themselves, ‘My decision-making capacity isn’t so good.’ …What it does is deposits us back as children, when economically more than ever we need to be adult.”

Are you serious? What a load of drivel. I have no problem believing the GOP’s constituents are in a state of arrested development; but talking heads like Ablow forget there’s a thinking world outside of their party. Mortgage companies mandate flood insurance;  legislatures mandate car insurance; why is mandated health care insurance beyond comprehension for these fools?

As for Ablow, he’s no one-time kook; he’s  also postured theories such as:

Newt Gingrich’s three marriages mean he might make a strong president”

Women have “a special place in society as the protected gender.”

Obama was elected because America suffered from “Stockholm Syndrome” after 9/11.

“Legalizing polygamy is inevitable if “narcissistic” LGBT couples are allowed to adopt children.”

[In order to stay “manly”] “During the recession it’s going to be doubly important to get to the gym, make yourself strong, be the head of your household.”

I don’t have a medical degree, but I can rattle off a couple of psychological issues this guy probably has:

Histrionic Personality Disorder – “Displays excessive but shallow emotions and attention-seeking behaviors. These individuals are constantly “performing” in order to gain attention.”

Narcissistic Personality Disorder – a pervasive disorder characterized by self-centeredness, lack of empathy, and an exaggerated sense of self-importance.

Antisocial Personality Disorder – a “pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others…described as lacking empathy (or the ability to “put yourself in someone else’s shoes” to understand their feelings), and they may often be deceitful or break the law

Well will you look at that, I just diagnosed the entire Republican Party. That one’s on the house boys.

  • “Legalizing polygamy is inevitable if “narcissistic” LGBT couples are allowed to adopt children.”

Its ironic that a right-wing mouthpiece would warn of the danger of “legalizing polygamy” in a year that the GOP candidate for president is a Mormon.
