Let me start this post with the heartfelt expression that I am very greatful that the recent malfunction on Ann Romney’s airplane turned out well.
So is Mitt Romney, who remarked on the incident while on a fundraising trip to California:
“I appreciate the fact that she is on the ground, safe and sound. And I don’t think she knows just how worried some of us were. When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem. So it’s very dangerous. And she was choking and rubbing her eyes. Fortunately, there was enough oxygen for the pilot and copilot to make a safe landing in Denver. But she’s safe and sound.”
Gee whiz… someone should get right on all those obviously defective airplanes that don’t allow passengers to crack the window at 35,000 feet. Otherwise airline passengers may die from lack of oxygen if there is some sort of emergency!
Is this Romney’s supermarket scanner moment? A moment when an out of touch candidate appears befuddled by something so fundamental that most of the nation is confirmed in the belief that he is completely unrelatable to the rest of us.
