When Even Right-Most Republican Bushies Want Gonzo Gone

If you haven’t seen at least 10 minutes of U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday, you are missing an act that is part comedy, part tragedy, part endless levels of incompetence, and 416% Fear Factor when you realize THIS man is responsible for American justice on the federal level. You really MUST watch some of it and I would strongly encourage everyone to read at least a good part of the transcript. [Mind you, I choked on more than a pretzel when I heard Gonzales insist, "I have nothing to hide."]

To indicate just how very badly Gonzo did (after weeks of scripting and practice lessons and experts on lying tried to show him how not to look like he was fabricating every word), this is what a Republican senator said to him yesterday:

“The best way to put this behind us is your resignation,” Sen. Tom CoburnĀ of Oklahoma bluntly told Gonzales, one conservative to another. Gonzales disagreed, rejecting the idea that his departure would put the controversy to rest.
