When the MSM, especially its right-tipped wing, immediately lauded Bush’s nomination of Michael Mukasey, a nominal Democrat, as his Alberto Gonzales replacement for Attorney General, citing Mukasey as a man Dems can love, I knew I was NOT going to like this man. And that sense got worse when I learned that Mukasey had the strong support of Dem NY Senator Chuck Schumer who, while there’s a lot to like about Schumer, it often blinds one to the many points of concern we should also have about this NY hawk.

The more I learn about Mukasey, the worse it gets. I mean, now we know that torture isn’t really torture, that the WH memo allowing torture was a “bad idea” but what it approved was not (say WHAT?), that Bush really should have super secret imperial powers even though nothing in our government setup allows them, and Mukasey is cool with secret domestic wiretapping of American citizens without due cause.

So when I read this at Think Progress about how Mukasey’s son Marc is a top level official with the Rudy Giuliani GOP presidential campaign, it just added more poisonous frosting to the cake, especially when the younger Mukasey is charged with distancing “I made billions off 9/11!” Giuliani from Bernard Kerik, the highly questionable former NYC police chief whom Rudy used to make those billions disguised as homeland security before putting the even more slimy Kerik up for Homeland Security chief.

The White House had a 10 AM deadline to turn over the (how many?) thousands of emails and other documents they appear to have hidden from Congressional investigators in the matter of the eight fired federal prosecutors in the case known as GonzoGate, after Attorney General (and quite the simple-minded comedian) Alberto Gonzales who began life as an undistinguished personal lawyer of President Bush.

Needless to say, the White House waved its middle finger YET again, claiming Executive Privilege.

Of course, considering what it did in the case of another federal prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald in the case against VP Dick Cheney’s former Chief of StiffStaff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, this should be no surprise. Of course, there is also the matter of Cheney’s highly unique argument that as VP, he has privileges that exceed the president’s in super-duper-secrecy because he’s not part of the White House, not part of Congress, not part of the planet. Say what?

In Bushdom, justice is only partisan viciousness meted out only to those not right-most Republicans and not top megaconglomerates willing to buy votes; everyone else gets a “get out of jail” and “earn top millions doing so” card.

While pro-harsh punishment folks just love those “three strikes and you’re out” laws that can send someone convicted of a third crime into prison for the rest of his or her life, I wonder why so very little gets said in the “Mainstream Media” (MSM) about how President George W. Bush not only insists he is free to break the very laws he signs (through “Bush Gets Out Of Jail Free!” singing statement exclusions), he is also this nation’s biggest criminal lawbreaker.
