Friday Feminism: Abortion, Equality and Sexual Assault

Federal Judge Daniel Hovland struck down North Dakota’s six week abortion ban, known as the “fetal heartbeat” measure, permanently on Wednesday calling the law “invalid and unconstitutional” and that it “cannot withstand a constitutional challenge.” The law had immediately been challenged by the Red River Women’s Clinic as an “undue burden on women seeking to obtain an abortion.” Kansas was able to avoid attaching a similar fetal heartbeat rider on a bill that would criminalize abortion once  the heartbeat was detected. – Read the full article

APRIL 8, 2014-EQUAL PAY DAY  April 8, 2014 is Equal Pay Day.  It is the symbolic day when women’s earnings finally catch up to men’s earnings from the previous year.
